Motivational Reflection

Hurray! I've almost completed one-third of my winter quarter finals. All I've got left to do in my art class is critique, which is tomorrow. The assignment was to create a piece of public art (with permission from your site of choice) on campus. It being dead/finals week, I decided to do something of the inspirational nature. Motivational Reflection is the name of my piece. It consists of a series of quotes and cutouts of a few famous folk you might recognize.

Each subject was paired with a quote or phrase that is meant to motivate all you Gauchos studying this week in the UCSB Davidson Library. Those who decide to take a potty break, that is. Yup, my site installation is in the restrooms of the library. It was somewhat of a mission, mostly when it came to the men's room. Now that's what I call awkward... But I think the effort was worth it. If any of you find yourself reviewing for your finals this week at Davidson, be sure to check it out!

See if you can guess from which famous lips these wise words first came from!

  2. Thanks Gabby for sharing your inspirational eye candy with library employees and users; it's much needed. I don't have a mirror in my office, but would welcome your work on my office walls or window. Let me know if you're up for the commission - 805-893-8022.

  4. I love this project! I especially enjoyed how you incorporated the reflected image from the wall art in the mirror, with the work done on the mirror.
