GOBLIN

I had the pleasure of swaging out with my friend Zack of The Spiralcase the other day, all the while bumping Tyler, The Creator's new album GOBLIN, of course. In a sudden flurry of artistic inspiration incited by the violent cyclone that is Tyler's grimy beats and filthy poetry, I whipped out the Δ iDGΔB SWΔG. I've been doodling up a storm these days, so much so that I tend to forget to eat, sleep, and function in general if I'm in the middle of a sketching frenzy. Feeling particularly wolfy, I brought the fine tips and sharpies out to play, and let them ride the swag wave of my fingertips. Custom OFWGKTA shirt by iDGAB in exchange for a skateboarding lesson & a copy of GOBLIN... solid deal to me! Thanks Zack! Swag flowing like floods of torrential rain.

LO$ ANGELE$

Los Angeles, you will always have a place in my heart. It always takes just one solid trip back home to recognize the magic of a big city. Especially when I get to roam the city streets with my best friends--Amber, my bestie since preschool, and Alec, my bestie from college! Two of the greatest people you'll ever meet. And definitely the best people to plan a weekend completely devoted to going insane, throwing some glitter, and making it rain. In other words, who else would I get all glittered, studded, animal printed, and bejeweled out for the Ke$ha Get $leazy tour with?

Our pre-$how game plan included a nostalgic trip to Olvera Street, where we wandered around the precious street shops full of little Mexican nicknacks and the best corner taquito stand in LA, Cielito Lindo. Can you say jumbo horchata and a chile relleno on the side?

...And There's Glitter On The Floor

Ke$ha sure knows how to BLOW up the stage. Anyone who can embrace the art of going hard and being trashy, all in the name of being yourself and not letting anyone phase you, is awesome in my book. Plus, she probably eats glitter for breakfast. That said, she's obviously someone I admire. :) Ke$ha's sheer presence unleashed the animalistic instinct to dance from within each wild child in the crowd and it was almost impossible not to chant the words from every song she rocked the stage with. Multiple explosions of confetti, glow-in-the-dark tribal paint, the utter massacre of a cat-shaped piñata on stage, and blood dripping from Ke$ha's bright blue lips. What more could you ask for?

Coachella 2011

Coachella, Coachella, Coachella... Where to begin? There are endless things I could say about my first (and most definitely not my last) Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival, and yet I find myself at a loss for words. As it is merely impossible for me to adequately express the sentiments I have for this life-changing experience, photos shall suffice.

So for those of you who were unable to make the pilgrimage out to the mecca of music that is Coachella Valley, here's your chance to get a little taste of the magic. And for those of you who were lucky enough to bask in the same sweltering Indio sun, frolic around the same grassy wonderland, and feel the same euphonious melodies rattle your eardrums and flow through your bones as I did, here's your chance to briefly relive that moment.

If you cross your eyes until the two images focus into three, the center image should take you on a sort of photographic magic carpet ride. Hold on tight! You'll be arriving in Coachella Valley shortly ;) [click the image to view it larger]

Feel that? The sizzle that ripples the air in the far off distance, the rays that remind you it's time to whip out the SPF 70 + helioplex, the intense heat that renders many a folk bare as can be... None other than that infamous star that strikes Coachella this time every year with full force--the sun! And boy, did it make quite the appearance this year.

Miss Hill. Enough said.

The moment the sky hints at tints of pastel pink and dusky orange, a sigh of relief washes over the sea of sun soaked music lovers. The slow solar descent preps Coachella for a party of polar sorts, but of equal magnificence. When the sun finally goes down and the full moon ascends, the night owls and fireflies come out to play! It's absolutely electric.

Final note: I failed to capture two of the most epic moments of my life... Bright Eyes & Arcade Fire. I didn't have my camera at the time, which I regret, but then again don't. I guess some moments, you just gotta live and preserve in your mind body & soul. Plus, I know for a fact that no photo could ever capture to any degree how unequivocally spectacular and moving these two performances were. I consider myself incredibly lucky to have fulfilled my ultimate teenage dream... to have Conor Oberst serenade my soul and Arcade Fire blow my mind. Epic. Epic. Epic.
