Life is a Beach

Rainbow Rock

I am really starting to appreciate the beauty of my environment. The minute walk to the beach from my apartment, the spectacular sunsets that paint the sky with a unique palette each evening, and even the bipolarity of the weather make me truly treasure the little seaside college town of Isla Vista.

Phantom Limbs
Taking a break from studying for midterms, Alec and I took a stroll down to the beach just before sunset for a photo adventure! Two besties on the shore of Isla Vista, each with a Canon in hand, can only result in awesomeness :)

The concept of perspective has been especially fascinating to me lately, which can most likely be attributed to the courses I've been taking this quarter (mostly social commentary courses such as Black Studies & LGBTQ Studies, as well as Social Psych). The idea that the only world we can know is our own blows my mind. Especially when I watch shows like Planet Earth and Life, I tend entertain strange and wonderful notions about how other animals perceive the world. But I guess we'll never know...

Keeping with the theme of perspective, I put together an array of collaborative photos that displays the perspective of both Alec and I... a sort of juxtaposition of point of views.

Home Deco

My schedule has been ridiculously busy lately, hence the blog drought. Once midterms are over though, I'll be sure to blog more frequently!

One lazy sunday afternoon, Alec & I decided to coordinate a couple outfits and put on a little Housewife&Husband photo shoot to showcase our home decor. This calls to mind my favorite Cocorosie song By Your Side...

And its nearly midnight
And all i want with my life
Is to be a housewife

Monster Worms & Sea Stars

While watching Life on the Discovery Channel, Alec and I felt compelled to put together a little shoot inspired by this particularly phenomenal scene. The scene (above) consisted of a sea bed nearly covered in monster worms & sea stars swarming a seal carcass. Splendid.

We were going for a sort of Eastern dancing sea creature look.

The remnants of a carcass are being devoured upon our serene faces. How marvelous.

This is sparking a desire to watch The Little Mermaid. I mean, is Prince Eric not the hottest cartoon to ever walk the face of the animated world? With Trent from Daria and of course Aladdin coming in at a close second ;) Speaking of, in recent weeks, my household has nostalgically indulged in the wonders of classic Disney movies. These include but are not limited to Pocahontas, The Lion King, Aladdin, Mulan, and The Jungle Book. We are making headway! More inspirational projector photo shoots are definitely on their way.

I Miss My Maus!

Two nights ago, I received a text message that read "Hi brie I miss you! It's me Maurice". Yup, my 5 year old baby bro texted me. Part of me resents the fact that my such a young kid would have the ability to text, by way of his iPod touch. The other part of me thinks... hey, at least he uses it for reasonable purposes... for the most part. He bumps MJ, The Beatles, ABBA, and Lady Gaga. He knows what's up. He uses it to text me cute little messages like the one I mentioned. He uses it to master all the games... he's even better than me. He won't let me forget that he has a higher score in Fruit Ninja than me. Hah, silly boy. I miss him!

"Maus" & "Brie"

I doodled a little illustration for him the night before I moved out. He loves comic books, especially the Incredible Hulk. So, I made a comic of our own :) He calls me "Brie"... that is, Gabrielle. Being a hardcore transformer fan, he decided that my heroic name would be Bumble Brie. I think it has a nice ring to it.

Aw, he's growing up so fast *teardrop* Cute snapshot of his first day of Kindergarten!

Maus Doodle

To return the favor, my little artistic apprentice drew this for me and had my dad scan/send it to me. It's precious beyond words. I love his fantastic imaginative illustrations.

The following videos make me miss him exponentially more D: ...but, they are just so great to watch. My brother is an absolute joy and such a character. He dances, sings, and even demonstrates his aptitude for geography. These are in chronological order for the most part. His progressive talent is quite astonishing :)
