Action Adventure: Earth Air & Water

First of all, may I wish my dear friend Eric the happiest birthday! We put together a little celebratory photo shoot on the big day to display the dawn of Eric's twenties in the most adventurous / fabulous / fierce way possible! Eric, Kevin, & I took advantage of the beautiful back hills of our neighborhood for a safari-in-the-suburbs inspired action adventure photo shoot. We came across makeshift stone stages perfect for silly poses & lazy lounging, and rainwater lakes made for stone skipping & barefoot exploration. Oh yes, it was a grand adventure, but it didn't end there...

If You're Going To San Francisco...

In The Backseat

San Francisco

A few weekends ago, Alec & I left our home in Isla Vista, headed for the 'Frisco Bay! It was a nice change of scenery and pace. Just being able to travel all across the city in a car, rather than a couple blocks down the street on a beach cruiser, was quite the treat! Fresh off the plane, we indulged in the wonders of Berkley at night--in other words, we gorged ourselves with delicious Top Dog & ice cream sandwiches from Cream.

The following day was all about the city. The festivities included: a daytime stroll up & down Haight Street, rocking the bindis and shopping our pockets out... an evening roam through downtown SF, happening upon the greatest of people and the strangest of encounters... & a nighttime glitter filled dance party with none other than the spectacular Crystal Castles. Needless to say, we had a good time.

Empathy

Can I just say, the amazing Alice of Crystal Castles deserves the biggest high five ever for not compromising an ounce of gnarly, despite a broken ankle. She spit her signature sound and head banged harder than anyone with two fully functional feet could even imagine. Kudos Alice.

Sonoma

To top off our Norcal adventure, we headed to Sonoma for some kickback time in the country. The car ride there was scenic, serene, and pleasantly unfamiliar. I like the peace in the backseat, I don't have to drive, I don't have to speak, I can watch the country side. Sonoma was too lovely for words. It definitely didn't hurt that I was in the company of gentle people with flowers in their hair.

Be Sure To Wear Some Flowers In Your Hair

Sunday morning, the bittersweet moment soon arrived when we would have to bid San Francisco farewell and make our way back to Santa Barbara. But of course, why not go out with a bang? You know what that means... gorge once more! Sol Food, you will be the death of me. Fried plantains to die for. Excuse my morbidity, but that meal pretty much took me to my grave. I think I died and went to glutton heaven.

In The Aeroplane Over The Bay

But alas, our adventure had come to an end. As we took off into the night sky, we peered down at a million tiny lights below and waved goodbye in the aeroplane over the Bay.
